Preciousness of Life

May 18, 2022

Life gets so busy that it is easy to forget how precious it is. That first moment you find that you have created a life and then that special day you get to witness a baby take its first breath, are some of the most amazing moments ever. As a physician, I had a privilege to assist many parents in welcoming their precious child. And today as a physician, I had a difficult time understanding how one of my own little patients has been diagnosed with a serious illness.

In this moment in time, my heart is breaking and my mind is working on making sure I can be of assistance and guidance to the family and this little gentle heart. I have to be honest, life has been so busy, so many things on the horizon, so many issues, fears...But today I remembered why I chose this profession and why despite my own feelings, I know I am meant to be doing this.

"Let us come alive to the splendor that is all around us, and see the beauty in ordinary things." Thomas Merton

In days to come, I hope that my little warrior will succeed at every step of the way and when he stumbles his family, friends and myself will be there to love him and take care of him. For those of you reading this, remember, life is a precious thing and DO NOT take it for granted, We only live once. Live life worth living. Make every second count, every moment. And be the best version of yourself, every single day.
