My Vote…My Voice

It would have been easier to stay home, it’s been a long hard day and I’m exhausted, but today was a primary Election Day in Texas and every vote counts in my book.


The vote is my voice, my vote of confidence or challenge to the people who are supposed to represent me. Many before us have died for the right to vote and our vote honors their sacrifice. And for me, there is nothing more American than the freedom of casting a vote and choosing the next generation of leaders. (I’m crossing my fingers that they too honor their duty of representing the beliefs of their constituents.)


As Martin Luther King once said “Our lives become to end the day we become silent about things that matter”. So, let’s make a pact with ourselves and stay vocal, vigilant and pro-active. Let’s use our votes and our voices for better tomorrow as we remember those voices from long ago…


We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
